My nephew spent the night with us. We took him to a snow cone stand. He got banana. He had never been before. He lives way out in the country and they don't have any near him.

We went hiking at a nearby city park. They have some really lovely trails.

It was early evening and the light was perfect.

How would you like to play king of the hill on that?

He was moving too fast at the playground for me to get any pictures. This was one of the few times he was holding still. This is his Hulk face.

Sorry readers. I have been so busy I have neglected my blog. But I had a great reason because of this:

My daughter graduated last night! I am so proud of her!

Here she is before the ceremony at the house with her boyfriend. She is all smiles! It seems like it all happened so fast. I can't believe it's over. I feel like I'm ready to go buy some school supplies or fill out some parent permission slip.

I know she worked really hard for this and am bursting with pride.

Congrats to all you 2012 grads.

Catnaps

I have always envied people who could just close their eyes for a bit for a little nap.

I have read that Winston Churchill got by with several catnaps through out the day.

Any time I have ever tried it I always wake up very disoriented and think that it's morning. I don't do it very often. Only when I pull an all nighter at the with the church youth or am very sick. 

My cats would love it if someone would snuggle up to them when they take their naps. I'm afraid I would just have to disappoint them.

Softball

We have been crazy busy running from practices to games the last couple of weeks. Our team is undefeated so far. It's weird how athletic my youngest is. I would run screaming away from any kind of sport but I can't get her to slow down for a minute.

Just look at her. She is chomping at the bit to steal home.

I am so glad she has found something to help her blow off steam. She has make some great friends and has a wonderful time. Parents-- even if you don't know a thing about sports, if your kids are interested, I urge you to foster it.

Husbands

Husbands are special in so many ways. My husband can be so sweet bringing me a refreshing glass of tea without me asking or or giving me a surprise back rub. He still opens the doors for me and takes me by the arm when we walk to keep me safe.

At times though, his male mind remains a mystery to me. His ability to fall asleep in front of a TV after any meal is astounding.

His pitiful pleas of pull my finger make me grin every time --even though they go unanswered except for Father's day.

He loves to watch MMA matches that make me cringe. He can make a box of cookies disappear to fast it would make your head spin. Despite all his foibles he's still mine and I love him.

Don't ya hate this? I just finish watching the weather report. There was forecast of 20% chance of rain. I finished getting ready and went to step outside. This is what I saw. Not just rain but hail!

Slumber parties.

 

Last night my youngest had a slumber party for her 12th birthday. Let me tell you, the volume level increased dramatically. We walked over to the park near our house to blow off some steam. The moon was huge and the night air felt wonderful There is a man-made pond there and with a large clear bank. The girls were nice enough to let me take their pic.
The party went well. Not too much drama and everyone got along. I am off to bed for a nap.
